President Nazarbayev surveys Aktau seaport's northern expansion (PHOTO)
ASTANA. KAZINFORM - Today, Head of State Nursultan Nazarbayev has familiarized with the expansion of Aktau seaport in the northern direction in the course of his working trip to Mangystau region, Kazinform has learned from the Akorda's press service.
The Kazakh President was briefed on the implementation of the project according to which the Aktau seaport will be extended to the north to increase freight flow up to 19.5 million tons per year. The first stage of the project is believed to be completed by December 2014.
Nursultan Nazarbayev was also informed of the development of the Caspian Sea infrastructure, trans-Caspian route and transport hub of Mangystau region.
During his trip President Nazarbayev is expected to pay a visit to a number of other facilities in the province, meet with local businessmen and members of the public as part of the trip.
